Costume Designs
‘The Canterbury Tales’ of medieval costume in 1:25 scale model figure. In the costume designs, I had to design an aspect to six characters in ‘The Canterbury Tales’. The six characters that I have chose are ‘Griselda’s’: Wedding Dress, ‘Griselda’, ‘Sir Topaz’, ‘Elf Queen’, ‘Sexy Older Women’ and ‘The Devil: Lucifer’.

In the design stage for the Six character I deside to do background research in the time frame and era of medieval costume. As well as having the ability to try on the costume to period, which helps with my knowledge of the costume and where about I would sit on the human body.

In medieval costume I have experiment with different types of medias. Like, watercolour, pastels, fine liners and many various ways of using medias. In my sketch’s, I done about five or six different drawings on each character.
The costumes for this performance are based between 1387 and 1400 in England, the designs for this element is too period. The devil and the Elf queen, however, are an interpretation of what the people of that time period would’ve imagined. This was done through research on the time period as well as an artistic flair that relates to modern costumes. Inspiration for a few of these elements would be from performances such as ‘Game of Thrones’ where the costumes within there performance would relate to that of the 1300’s England. The progression stage of medieval costume for me was to experiment with the different types of media used to create a medieval costume, for example metal chains on the knight.
